Terms of Service

Veris is a social platform where every account is a verified human. These terms are short on purpose — they're meant to be read.
The deal
Veris is currently a beta, offered free of charge. You get a place for honest public conversation; we get your patience while we build. The service will change, break occasionally, and improve. We may add paid features someday; the core promise — no ads, no selling your data, no engagement-bait algorithm — is not on the table.
Your account
You must be 18 or older, a real human, and the only person using your account. One account per person — that's not just a rule, it's the product. You verify with a phone number you control, and you're responsible for what happens through your account. Don't share login codes with anyone.
Your content
What you post is yours. You give Veris the license needed to host, display, and distribute it — that's what a social platform does mechanically, nothing more. Delete a post and the license ends with it; our systems purge it within 30 days.
The rules
Veris exists for authentic human conversation, so the rules protect exactly that:
- Be a human being yourself: no bots, no automated posting, no account farming, and no buying, selling, or renting accounts or verification standing.
- Don't misrepresent AI output as your own human expression. AI-assisted drafting happens; presenting synthetic content as authentic lived experience is what's off-limits.
- No harassment, threats, doxxing, or incitement. No sexual content involving minors, period — instant, permanent ban and reporting where legally required. No spam or manipulation of trust signals.
- Nothing illegal under US law or the law where you live.
Enforcement
We can warn, restrict, suspend, or remove accounts that break these rules. We'll aim to be proportionate and explain decisions when practical, but in the beta, enforcement judgment is ours. Verified offenses may also affect your public standing — that system is documented on the site. If you believe we got it wrong, email support@veris.social; a human reads it.
Leaving
Delete your account anytime, in settings, for real — profile, posts, and connections go with it. We'd rather earn your stay than trap you.
The legal necessities
The service is provided "as is," without warranties; it's a beta run by a small team. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Veris's total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us (currently: nothing) or $100, whichever is greater. You agree to use the service lawfully and to cover us for claims arising from your own content or conduct. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California; disputes will be resolved in California courts.
Changes
If these terms change meaningfully, we'll say so plainly on the site with a new effective date. Continuing to use Veris after that means the new terms apply.
